George, Iowa — COVID-19 has claimed another northwest Iowa summer festival. George Freedom Days will not be held this summer.
George Chamber Of Commerce officials tell us that it is with great sorrow that they announce that the 2020 Freedom Days Celebration has been canceled.
The statement says, “On behalf of the George Chamber of Commerce, we would like to thank members of our beloved community for your support and patience when it comes to this year’s Freedom Days Celebration. We have spent countless hours researching ways to effectively handle our annual event during the COVID epidemic. We spoke to Lyon County health officials, as well as neighboring communities to see how their events will be managed.”
The statement does say to stay tuned, as other potential events may come later this year.
