Man Behind Bars After Allegedly Threatening To Shoot Sanford Hospital Employees

Orange City, Iowa — A Granville man is behind bars, facing a felony charge after he allegedly threatened to shoot hospital employees.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, in the 3:00 p.m. hour on Wednesday, October 26, one of their deputies arrested 58-year-old Ryan Betcke of Granville.

They say the arrest stemmed from an alleged incident in which Betcke is said to have called Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, and threatened to shoot employees with an AK47 rifle. Due to the threats, Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls and Orange City Health were placed on lockdown status until Betcke was arrested.

Betcke was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with making terroristic threats, which is a class D felony. If convicted of a class D felony, Betcke could face up to five years in prison.

At last report, he remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
