Sutherland, Iowa — Ground was broken Friday afternoon for a new Community Center building that will be the new home of the American Legion Post and City Offices in Sutherland.
The R.L. Johannsen Center will be a 9,000 square foot facility with a large meeting room, small meeting room, and a full kitchen, and will house American Legion Post 152 along with the Sutherland City Offices.
Dirt work is expected to begin within the next couple of weeks, with the structure scheduled for completion sometime next summer.
