Larchwood, Iowa — A Lyon County farmer is one of four finalists to be named America’s Pig Farmer of the year.
The National Pork Board says they created the America’s Pig Farmer of the Year contest to recognize the best of the best in pig farming. This prestigious honor is being awarded annually to the pig farmer who best demonstrates and lives by what they call the “We Care” ethical principles.
Videos have been created to tell people about the finalists. In his video, Marti Knoblock says that the possibility of connecting more with the public about how he and his family raise pigs is something he looks forward to doing more of.
He says it’s about telling today’s consumers about modern pig farming and how farmers can care for their animals as they address the consumers’ questions.
