UPDATE with total amount collected: Halloween Candy Buy-Back Scheduled For Wednesday

Sheldon, Iowa — Earlier this week we told you about a Sheldon dental clinic that was offering to “buy back” Halloween candy from local kids.

Sheldon Family Dental Clinic extended the offer to pay $3 per pound, as well as a goodie bag, to children who brought their excess Halloween candy into the clinic on Wednesday, November 1st. As a result, Sheldon Family Dental Clinic bought-back 56-pounds of the sugary commodity during their buy-back period.

The 56-pounds of candy collected will be sent to U.S. troops who are deployed overseas, as part of Operation Gratitude.

Sheldon, Iowa — If your little spooks bring home a large bounty of the sweet, sugary delights from trick-or-treating, they can have the option of eating it, or turning it into cash.

Each year the staff at Sheldon Family Dental Clinic buys excess Halloween candy. Jo Borer of the Sheldon Family Dental Clinic tells about the idea behind the program.

She says it’s a win-win…..the kids get dental health benefits from eating less candy, and the troops get a taste of home. Borer says they pay by the pound for the candy turned in to the dental clinic.

She says it’s easy to take part in the buy-back program.

The Sheldon Family Dental Clinic is located in the Arlington Plaza, on the southwest corner of the intersection of 10th Street and 3rd Avenue, downtown in Sheldon.
