Hartley, Iowa — The summertime festivals continue in Northwest Iowa. One of the communities celebrating this weekend is Hartley.
Things get underway on Friday evening at 5 pm with a beer garden and a meal by the Lions Club featuring brats, burgers, hot dogs, sweet corn, and more. There will be antique fire truck rides, a silent auction, bingo, and horseshoes. A little later, there’s a free dance with a DJ and some festival food.
The bulk of the fun happens on Saturday, when we’re told there will be a 5K walk/run, a 5-mile family bike ride, a pancake breakfast, a 50s and 60s alumni coffee, a bloody mary bar, a parade, a cemetery walk, an all-school reunion, two dances, inflatables and other fun things for the kids to do, including a sidewalk chalk contest. Food stands will be open. There will be horse-drawn carriage rides, live music in the park, a silent auction, a kids pedal pull, a cornhole tournament, and a burnout contest.
