Harvest Almost Complete In Our Area

Iowa — Only a few percent of Iowa’s soybean crop remains to be harvested, and virtually all of the soybeans in northwest Iowa have been harvested.

According to the USDA Crop Progress Report, corn harvested for grain statewide increased by 16 percent last week to 84 percent, which is almost a week ahead of last year, and 12 days ahead of the five-year average. 90 percent of northwest Iowa corn has been harvested for grain, which is 16 percent higher than last week.

In addition to harvesting corn and soybeans, field activities last week included completing fall tillage, and applying fall fertilizer.

The USDA report says 21 percent of northwest Iowa topsoil has adequate moisture, which is half as much as last week. Northwest Iowa subsoil with adequate moisture dropped three percent to 30 percent.
