Sioux Center, Iowa — It’s easy and fun to help others this fall. A community action agency serving our area is doing a fundraiser to help you do that.
Mid-Sioux Opportunity is hosting their 10th annual mitten fundraiser by partnering with local businesses in five counties to provide assistance to needy families. All proceeds go toward meeting the needs of families in Lyon, Sioux, Plymouth, Cherokee and Ida counties.
Melany Roling with Mid-Sioux tells us how the funds raised will be used.
According to Roling, the funds stay local. So if you buy a mitten in Sioux Center, those funds stay in Sioux County. Or if you buy mittens in Rock Rapids, the funds stay in Lyon County, for instance.
You can purchase a mitten at Sunshine Foods or Junction 9-75 in Rock Rapids and at the Shell Sioux-Per Center in Sioux Center through the end of this week.
Mid-Sioux Opportunity is a Community Action Agency that fights poverty on the local level serving Cherokee, Ida, Lyon, Plymouth and Sioux counties in Northwest Iowa. You can also purchase mittens in communities in the other counties they serve. Roling says your support is not only appreciated by Mid-Sioux, but also by the many families that will receive help this winter.
