Hog Nursery Building Lost In Tuesday Morning Blaze

Paullina, Iowa — Fire destroyed a hog nursery building on a farmstead near Sutherland Tuesday morning.

The Paullina Fire Department was called to the blaze at about 8:15 Tuesday morning, at 4283 Pierce Avenue. Fire Chief Brent Noteboom says the structure was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

Granville and Archer firefighters were also summoned to assist Paullina in battling the blaze, which took about 10-thousand gallons of water to extinguish.

Noteboom termed the structure a “total loss”. He says a cause of the blaze has not been determined.

Noteboom says fire crews were on scene for about 2-1/2 hours.
