Hull Celebrates 150 Years Starting This Wednesday

Hull, Iowa — This year’s summer celebration in Hull is a special one as it is Hull’s 150 year, also known as Sesquicentennial, celebration.

Kelsey Wielenga, Event Coordinator of the celebration, says the Sesquicentennial Celebration begins on Wednesday, July 5th and goes until Sunday, July 9th. She says there are many activities going on, some that happen every year, some that are brand new, and some that have been brought back from past celebrations. She tells us about some of the events.

Wielenga says the Summer Theater will be performing The Pied Piper Friday and Saturday, the movie DC League of Super-Pets outdoors at Eastside Park on Friday night, on Saturday, there will a car show at the Hull Professional Plaza and there will be a soccer tournament at Western Christian Fields, and on Sunday, there will a community church service and a Tribute Quartet. Wielenga lists a couple more activities.

Wielenga says there are many more activities that have no been listed. She adds what her and city officials would like the goal of this celebration to be.

Unemployment rate drops in April

The April unemployment rate dropped to two-point-eight percent compared to two-point-nine percent in March. Iowa Workforce Development director, Beth Townsend, says
