Sheldon, Iowa – The Board of Education of the Sheldon Community School District will meet in special session Wednesday afternoon with just two items on their agenda.
The high school baseball and softball fields both have backstop fencing that was damaged by ice and wind. The Board will discuss replacement of those backstops at Wednesday’s meeting. They’re expected to approve a quote from Beacon Athletics for engineering and materials for a backstop netting system at a cost of $57,750, and installation By L&K for $30-thousand, for a total project cost of $87,850, of which $77,842 will be paid by the District’s insurer, EMC Insurance.
The other agenda item is about backstop fencing at the Sports Complex that was damaged by ice and wind. The Board is expected to approve a quote from American Fence Company for replacement of the damaged chain link fence at the Sports Complex at a cost of $68,842. EMC Insurance will pay the full cost of that replacement.
