IDPH Recognizes Red Ribbon Week 2018

Iowa — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) joins the National Family Partnership in observing Red Ribbon Week 2018 on October 23-31. Since 1988, the annual National Red Ribbon Campaign has influenced drug prevention efforts. The red ribbon symbolizes an empowerment for communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.

This year’s theme is “Life is a Journey, Travel Drug Free.” A simple way for Iowans to participate in Red Ribbon Week is to make a pledge online at http://redribbon.org/pledge/. “Make a commitment to your children during Red Ribbon Week. You can help them grow up in a safe, healthy and drug-free environment,” said Jill Wright, Community Health Consultant.

The annual awareness week is October 23-31.
