Inland Lake Yachting Association Regatta Begins Sunday At The Iowa Great Lakes

Okoboji, Iowa — Sailors and sailboats from a six-state region will be descending upon the Iowa Great Lakes beginning this Sunday, August 15th for the Inland Lake Yachting Association Regatta, hosted by the Okoboji Yacht Club.

Events begin Sunday with registration and launch of the two biggest classes of sailboats, the A and MC Scows. Races for those two classes will take place Monday and Tuesday, with races and trophy presentations taking place Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, registration and launch of the smaller boats, the E and C Scows, will take place. Races for the E and C Scows will take place Thursday and Friday, with the races wrapping up on Saturday morning. Trophy presentation for the E and C Scows will be Saturday.

Powerboat operators are asked to observe no wake speeds in the vicinity of the Regatta course.

The week’s Inland Yachting Association Regatta, hosted by the Okoboji Yacht Club, will bring racers from Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, Wisconsin, as well as Iowa, to the Iowa Great Lakes to compete.
