Inwood, Iowa (KTIV) — A Lyon County woman accused of multiple child endangerment charges has changed her plea to guilty.
Thirty-year-old Elizabeth Kainrath of Inwood, Iowa, pleaded guilty to six counts of child endangerment, each an aggravated misdemeanor, last week.
Court documents state, as a part of a plea agreement, Kainrath faces a possible term of two years imprisonment, with all but fifty days in the Lyon County Jail suspended.
According to court documents, Kainrath originally pleaded not guilty in April 2025 to over a dozen child endangerment charges. As part of her plea deal, several of her charges were dropped.
Kainrath was arrested on Friday, March 8th, 2025, after an investigation was opened by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. During the investigation, the daycare’s staff and the sheriff’s office worked closely with the Department of Health and Human Services.
Deputies had been alerted to a situation that took place at Kingdom Kids Daycare, where Kainrath was previously employed, on the day before her arrest.
At the time of her arrest, deputies reportedly identified 14 different incidents in about one hour and fifteen minutes where Kainrath acted aggressively and inappropriately with five different children.
Kainrath was reportedly arrested without incident and taken to the Lyon County Jail and held on a $31,000 cash bond. After her arrest, she posted bond.
“Kingdom Kids Daycare acted promptly, decisively and in a professional manner,” the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office stated in a release. “The team there demonstrated their commitment to the safety and well-being of children by their actions.”
A sentencing hearing is expected to take place on Monday, February 23rd, 2026, at 10 a.m.
