ISU Extension & Outreach Hold Field Day At Sutherland Research Farm

NWRF Field Day 2Sutherland, Iowa — One hundred ten farmers and agribusiness employees attended Iowa State University’s Northwest Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm Field Day Wednesday (July 13th) near Sutherland.

ISU Extension and Outreach specialists shared the latest research in crop production. Attendees were given the opportunity to tour several of the farm’s research plots and ask questions of the researchers, as well as ISU Extension and Outreach agronomists and farm business management specialists.

ISU Extension and Outreach Field Agronomist Joel DeJong tells us about some of the day’s morning sessions.

DeJong says that, after a free lunch provided by Iowa Learning Farms, attendees had the option to stay for an afternoon session.

The afternoon session wrapped up with homemade ice cream and the opportunity for attendees to ask any further questions of the researchers and specialists.

DeJong says the goal of Wednesday’s field day was two-fold.

He says the field days allow producers to hear, and talk to, several people who are experts in their field, to gain information and knowledge to take back to their farming operation.
