Sheldon, Iowa — The winners have been announced for the 2016 KIWA Christmas Tree Contest. Listeners have been asked to submit photos of their Christmas tree, and winners were selected from each of the three tree categories: Children’s Tree; Most Unique Tree; and Single Color Tree. The winners were announced this morning on the KIWA Morning Show with Wayne & Aaron.
The winning tree in the Children’s Tree category was submitted by Michelle Simpson of Sheldon. In her submission information she told us that each ornament on the tree was made with love by her daughters, or other family members past and present. She said that, minus the hat topper, there was as aluminum foil star the girls had made, but the girls decided they should have an extra Santa hat, in case his blows off.
The tree selected as Most Unique is a tree decorated as a snowman, lit with white lights, which was submitted by Arlene Griffioen of Sheldon. The tree sports red ornament buttons down the front, a gold scarf, black ornaments for his eyes and mouth, and a gold ornament for a nose.
In the One-Color Category, the winning tree was submitted by Betty Van Der Sloot of Sheldon. It is a tree completely festooned in white, from it’s snowman head as a tree topper, through it’s white ornaments, white lace garland, right down to it’s white tree skirt, this was our choice for Best One-Color Christmas Tree.
Our trio of winners will receive a pair of tickets to attend both days of RiseFest, 2017, which will be held in June here in Sheldon.
