Sutherland, Iowa — A 23-year old Larrabee, Iowa man was taken to the hospital following an accident near Sutherland early Sunday.
According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, 23-year old Colton Ebel of Larrabee was soutbound on Wilson Avenue in a 1996 Ford pickup when he entered a curve leading into a bridge. Deputies say Ebel lost control, striking the west guardrail, causing it to break and the vehicle to go off the bridge and flip over.
Ebel was transported to a Cherokee hospital by the Sutherland Ambulance with what the report describes as suspected incapacitating injuries.
Damage to the bridge railing was estimated at $500, while Ebel’s pickup was termed a total loss.
Officers say they suspect alcohol played a role in the accident.
