Last Private Pesticide Applicator Education Approaches

Sheldon, Iowa — If you are a farmer or other private individual who uses restricted-use pesticides, you need to be certified in Iowa. Your last chance of the season to re-certify in our area is coming up next week.

The last Private Pesticide Continuing Education for this season will be held at 7:00 PM on April 11, at Northwest Iowa Community College, just east of Sheldon, in Building C, Room 328. The Sioux County office of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach says this is for currently-certified applicators and certifies an individual to apply restricted-use chemicals.

Private pesticide applicators are required to attend an approved Continuing Instruction Course each year to re-certify or take the written test given by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.

The registration fee for the instruction is $20 and pre-registration is requested. If you wish to attend, send your name, address, phone and certification numbers with a $20 check to the O’Brien County Extension Office, 320 2nd St. SE, PO Box 99, Primghar IA  51245. Call 712-957-5045 if you have questions, or for more information.
