Northwest Iowa – Dairy producers in northwest Iowa will learn how to improve and manage their transition cow program at the 2016 Transition Cow Field Days hosted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach specialists. The program is scheduled at seven Iowa locations in March.
ISU veterinarian and dairy specialist Dr. Ryan Breuer tells us what a “transition cow” is.
In our area the program will be Wednesday, March 23rd in LeMars. It will run from 10 AM to noon at Plymouth Dairy, at 23505 K-49. He tells us what to expect if you go.
He says the basic idea is to inform producers on how to achieve better milk quality, how to improve calving and provide best management practices for record keeping.
The two-hour workshops are free of charge, and they would appreciate if you would let them know you are coming. You can call 712-737-4230 or email at rmbreuer@iastate.edu. You can use that same contact information if you have questions about the program, or if you’d like to find out about alternate dates, times, and locations.
