Lester Day Is This Weekend

Lester, Iowa — It’s time for Lester’s annual celebration, known simply as “Lester Day.” The celebration is this Saturday in the Lyon County town.

Activities will include a breakfast at the community center, a color walk/run, a parade at 10:30, games and concessions in the park, and lunch at the community center.

Afternoon opportunities will include fire truck rides at the park, a car show on Main Street, the golf ball drop, a smoked meat competition, with samples available at 1:00 and the winner announced at 2:00. There will be sheep shearing, a kids’ tractor pull, fastpitch softball, and a homerun derby for both kids and adults, with brats and dogs served.

The day will wrap up with a street dance.

Then, on Sunday, they’ll have an outdoor community church service in the park. Bring your own lawn chair. In case of rain, it’ll be at the community center instead.
