Northwest Iowa — A taste of winter is on the way for later Thursday into Friday as a strong storm system brings gusty winds, cooler temperatures, and even some snow potential.
Snow accumulations are expected to remain on the lighter side although when combined with wind gusts over 40 mph at times, some reduced visibility is expected. With this being the first snowfall of the season for most, be sure to exercise extra caution with any travel Thursday night and Friday.
A rather wet Wednesday is ahead as an area of rain moves from west to east across the region today. Rain will begin across central SD through the daybreak hours, reaching the I-29 corridor closer to midday before exiting this evening. Rain amounts look to end up around a quarter of an inch or less for most locations although a few amounts closer to a half an inch are possible across SW MN and NW IA.
