Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Identity Of Man In Surveillance Video

Rock Rapids, Iowa — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who they believe committed a crime in Lyon County, and they’re looking for the public’s help.

The sheriff’s office has posted a video of the man in question on their Facebook page, but the video doesn’t show the crime that they believe he committed in Iowa. The video shows three customers paying for items at a Sioux Falls Get-n-Go convenience store. The first two people come in the door at about the same time, and a third individual has presumably been in the store and soon comes into view. The person they are interested in is one of the two who come in at the same time — the one wearing the black hat.

According to Lyon County Deputy Kyle Munneke, a car was burglarized in Rock Rapids about two hours before the video was taken. Among items stolen from the car was a debit card, and according to the deputy the man in the black hat appears to be using it to purchase items from the Get-n-Go.

In addition to the black hat, the man is also wearing a tan coat and black or gray shorts. He also appears to be carrying a backpack slung across his body with one strap, and in the video he is the last person to pay and leave the store.

If you recognize the man in the black hat, coat, and dark shorts, you are asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (712)472-8300.
