Malls, Social/Country Clubs Closed, Law Officers To Enforce Governor’s Rules

Des Moines, Iowa — More kinds of stores have been ordered to close, and law enforcement officers will assist in enforcing the new rules — that according to Governor Reynolds in her daily update Monday morning.

Gov. Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the State Public Health Emergency Declaration, ordering additional closures and relaxing additional regulations to support the state’s efforts to combat COVID-19.

Here are the highlights.

More kinds of stores and venues are closed, including malls and social clubs like VFW, Eagles, and so forth. Country clubs and golf course clubhouses are closed, except that food and beverages may be sold for carry-out, and a golf course clubhouse may also be open to the minimum extent necessary to facilitate the use of the golf course, provided appropriate social distancing practices are implemented. Unsolicited door-to-door sales are prohibited.

While many kinds of stores are closed, discount, grocery stores, and pharmacies continue to be open. And if they sell items mentioned in the closed-store list, they may continue to sell those items.

In conjunction with the Department of Public Health, all peace officers of the state are also called upon to assist in the enforcement of the provisions of the proclamation.
