Man Accused Of Fatally Shooting An Algona Police Officer Has Trial Pushed Back

Algona, Iowa — The Algona man charged with murdering a police officer in that community will now go to trial on May 14, 2024, in Kossuth County.

Kyle Ricke, who is accused of killing Officer Kevin Cram back in September 2023, was originally scheduled to go to trial this Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023. Ricke has already pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors accuse Ricke of fatally shooting Officer Cram while Cram was trying to serve him an arrest warrant. Ricke was later captured in Minnesota and extradited to Iowa. He’s being held in the Kossuth County Jail on a $2 million cash-only bond.
