Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon High School Marching Orabs competed this past Saturday in the “Pursuit of Excellence” contest and clinic in Marshall, Minnesota.
Sheldon Band Director Cliff St. Clair says the Marshall event draws bands from a wide area.
He says the opportunity of getting feedback from the clinicians prior to performing gave the Marching Orabs a chance to tweak their performance a bit before having it judged.
St. Clair says Mother Nature threw them something of a curve-ball during their performance.
The Marching Orabs ended up taking 4th place in their field of seven bands, finishing behind Hastings MN, Harrisburg SD, and Anoka MN. The rest of the field was made up of Andover MN, Estherville-Lincoln Central and Sioux City Heelan.
The next outing for the Orab band will be this coming Saturday, September 30th when they travel to Luverne MN for morning and afternoon performances, then to Brandon Valley SD for an evening performance.
