Sheldon, Iowa — This is Homecoming Week in the Sheldon Community Schools, with activities and themes scheduled for each day of the school week.
Monday is Pajama Day at the Sheldon Middle and High Schools, with students and faculty dressed in their favorite PJ’s for the day. At East Elementary, it’s Patriotic Day, where students and faculty are dressed in red, white and blue.
The Middle School and High School Cross Country teams are scheduled to travel to Alta-Aurelia, running at the Alta Golf Course. 9th and JV Football are scheduled to entertain Sioux Center at Orab Field. 7th Grade Volleyball will host Sioux Center, while 8th Grade Volleyball will be at Sioux Center.
Tuesday will be Beach Day at the High School, while the Middle School list Injury Day as their theme. Elementary students and faculty will observe Pajama Day Tuesday, when students and staff will wear pajamas or other comfy clothes.
The Homecoming Royalty will be crowned Tuesday evening at 7:30 in a Coronation Ceremony held at the O-Rena. Guest speaker for the event will be former Sheldon High School Principal Matt Meendering.
At the high school Wednesday will be Western Day, while the middle school will feature Teacher/Student Opposite Day, and East will hold Workout Wednesday.
On Thursday the high school will observe Red, White and Blue Day, while the middle school will hold Neon Color Day, and the elementary will hold Mismatch Day.
Friday will be Orange & Black Day at all three Sheldon public schools, with students and faculty sporting the Orab colors leading up to Friday night’s Homecoming Football Game, in which the Orabs will host Estherville-Lincoln Central.
Homecoming week will wrap up with the Homecoming Dance after the Friday night football game.
