Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Middle School Principal Cindy Barwick spent Wednesday on the roof of her school building as a reward to her students. Barwick says her day on the roof was a reward for scoring well on recent assessment tests.
The Principal says she’s having fun on the roof, and the kids are enjoying it, as well.
Barwick says that, despite the brisk winds, the weather has been cooperative for the endeavor.
She says that, even though she’s on the roof, she’s still able to get work done.
Sheldon Middle Schoolers increased their math scores on the Iowa Assessments. 5th graders by 21 points, 6th graders by 27 points, 7th graders by 19 points, and 8th grade by 14 points. Barwick says that expected growth is 10-12 points per grade level.
She took to the roof from 7:45 am Wednesday to the end of the school day at 2:25 pm.
