Orange City, Iowa — A northwest Iowa middle school has received a statewide honor in the area of student behavior.
MOC/Floyd Valley Superintendent Russ Adams says their middle school was named a PBIS banner school by the Iowa Department of Education. He tells us what that means.
He tells us that there’s a tremendous amount of data that’s collected as far as interventions and interactions with students and positive interactions as well.
Adams says he, Middle School Principal Cam Smith, and the school board are extremely pleased with the results and the honor. He says that as school districts continue to deal with challenges from a behavioral and mental health perspective, the more consistent teachers and administrators can be in their expectations and the way they handle issues, the more successful their efforts will be. And he says that’s the main point of the program.
