Primghar, Iowa — National Police Week was first proclaimed by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, in which he proclaimed the week of May 15th.
National Police Week is a week when residents honor law enforcement officers for their service and what they sacrifice to keep all of us safe. This year it’s Monday, May 15th, through Saturday, May 20th.
O’Brien County Sheriff Bruce Devereaux kicks the week off by telling us about his background in law enforcement.
When asked what he loves about being in law enforcement Devereaux tells us it’s the war on drugs.
Devereaux says his most memorable moment of being in law enforcement was the time he was in a head-on collision during a chase. He explains why he thought of that moment.
Sheriff Devereaux explains why he, and other officers, like serving O’Brien County.
If you see Sheriff Devereaux, or any other law enforcement officer this week, and want to thank them for their service, it is appreciated by each of them.
