NCC Helping Students Out With Food-Pantry-Like “Thunder Cupboard”; Donations Sought

Sheldon, Iowa — Students who attend Northwest Iowa Community College now have a resource if they’re having trouble making ends meet and are finding themselves food insecure. And organizers say they’re looking for the public’s help as well.

Kristi Landis, NCC’s Director of College Advancement, tells us what “Thunder Cupboard” is, and how it got started.

She says all students have to do is contact their advisor.

Landis tells us the students don’t even have to live on campus.

She says there are multiple ways you can help students through the Thunder Cupboard.

Landis says it’s been interesting to see what products go the quickest. For example, she says macaroni and cheese is not as popular as you might think, but ramen noodles are very popular. For more information, or to donate, you can call NCC at 800-352-4907 or locally, you can call 324-5061.
