Sheldon, Iowa — A remodeling project costing nearly one million dollars is underway at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.
We talked to NCC Dean of Applied Technology, Steve Waldstein, and he says it’s about making a “manufacturing center” at NCC.
He tells us why they think it’s needed.
According to Waldstein, the project involves no external construction of new space — only the remodeling of current space. He says the carpentry program was in the space to which the welding program is moving, and no decisions have been made yet on where carpentry may be going. He says the latest technology is going to be part of the project.
He tells us about the financial end of the project.
He says that money is from the State of Iowa for changing programs the need for which is tied directly to businesses and industries in the area. According to Waldstein, they hope the space will be ready for students in August.
