Northwest Iowa — Nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Wednesday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
There were six new cases in Lyon County and three in Sioux County, O’Brien County and Osceola County reported no new cases. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020.
The death toll for the area remains at 155 since the pandemic began. The death totals are 54 in O’Brien County, 57 in Sioux County, 33 in Lyon County, and eleven in Osceola County.
Out of the 1,385 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,227 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 89%.
Out of the 4,609 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,274 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.
Out of the 1,719 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,541 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 90%.
Out of the 650 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 603 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.
Osceola County currently has 36 active cases. There were 124 in O’Brien County and 125 in Lyon County. Each of those counties’ totals was down one from the previous day. Sioux County has 278 active cases, down 15.
