George, Iowa — When students and staff go back to school at George/Little Rock in the fall, they will have a new superintendent at the helm.
GLR officials say the George-Little Rock Community School Board of Education has offered a contract for the position of Superintendent of Schools to Mr. Tom Luxford.
They tell us that Luxford is currently the Assistant High School Principal/Director of Alternative School at South Sioux City High School in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Mr. Luxford received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Westmar College in Physical Education, a Master’s of Science Degree in School Administration from Wayne State College, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership with a Superintendent Licensure from Wayne State College.
Mr. Luxford began his teaching career as a K-12 Physical Education teacher and coach at schools in Nebraska. He then became the 9-12 Assistant Principal/Activities Director at North High School in Sioux City. He then went on to the South Sioux City Schools.
GLR officials tell us Luxford will replace interim superintendent Pat O’Donnell, who will continue in the position until June 30, 2020. Mr. Luxford will begin his employment with the George-Little Rock Community School District on July 1, 2020.
