Next Round Of Sheldon Street Repair To Begin Monday

Sheldon, Iowa — Work is scheduled to begin this coming Monday, September 13th, as part of Sheldon’s Street Improvement Project for 2021.

City Manager Sam Kooiker says the areas involved include:
4th Ave from 7th St to 8th St;
5th Ave from 6th St to 7th St, on the east side only;
8th St from 8th Ave to 9th Ave
9th Ave from 8th St to 11th St
The center asphalt cap on Elm Court and Union Ave.

Kooiker says the milling crew will be in town doing their work beginning Monday, with the paving crew scheduled for the Week of September 20th.

The City of Sheldon requests that you take alternative routes, if possible and do not park on the affected streets during the construction period.

Kooiker says the total investment is approximately $150,000 for the project and the main funding source is Road Use Tax (RUT).

Unemployment rate drops in April

The April unemployment rate dropped to two-point-eight percent compared to two-point-nine percent in March. Iowa Workforce Development director, Beth Townsend, says
