NWS: Temperature Rollercoaster Will Continue For A Little While Longer

Northwest Iowa — January, 2018 has been a rollercoaster ride of temperatures in our area. The month began with temperatures in the deep freeze, then they rebounded last week. The unseasonably warm weather brought some snow to the area, with temperatures dropping again after the snowfall.

We talked to National Weather Service Meteorologist Philip Schumacher, who said the temperatures will be on the up side of the rollercoaster beginning Wednesday (January 17th).

Schumacher says that, much like the last warm up, there will most likely be snow on the heels of this one, but it’s too early for an accurate prediction.

The good news, he says, is that we won’t be plunged back into the deep freeze as we were after it snowed last time.

Schumacher says if you plan to travel this Sunday, be sure and check the weather along your intended route, and alter your route, if it becomes necessary.
