O’Brien Co Atty, Treas Not Seeking Re-Election

O’Brien County, Iowa — When the June primary election rolls around this summer there will be two O’Brien County Republican incumbents whose names will not appear on the ballot.

County Attorney Micah Schreurs tells KIWA that he doesn’t intend to seek re-election. O’Brien County Auditor Barb Rohwer says that another county resident has taken out nomination papers to seek the County Attorney position, but has not yet returned them, as of late morning Friday (March 16th).

The other incumbent who will not be seeking re-election is O’Brien County Treasurer Phyllis Rohlfsen. Rohwer says Rohlfsen intends to retire at the end of the current term. According to Rohwer, Deputy Treasurer Missy Hatterman has filed papers for the Treasurer’s job in the June primary.

Other O’Brien County officials who WILL be seeking re-election this year include: County Supervisors Tom Farnsworth and Dan Friedrichsen. Both have filed nomination papers to get their name on the June primary ballot.

The remainder of O’Brien County’s elected officials are in the midst of their four year terms, and won’t be up for re-election until 2020, according to Rohwer.

Filing deadline for the June primary is 5:00 pm on Wednesday, March 28th.
