Sheldon, Iowa — The 2017 O’Brien County Relay For Life is rapidly approaching. The annual event will take place this coming Tuesday evening, June 13th, at the Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center on the campus of Northwest Iowa Community College.
Cindy Runger is one of the organizers of the O’Brien County Relay For Life, and she talks about some of the activities for the evening.
Runger says there will be more activities as the evening goes on.
Following the Opening Ceremony will be the Survivor’s Lap at 7:30 pm. More games and theme laps will take place from 8 until 8:45, with the evening culminating in the Luminaria Ceremony, which is scheduled for 9:00.
In past years, the O’Brien County Relay For Life had been an all-night event, and was always held from Friday night into early Saturday morning. Last year, organizers rearranged the Relay, and moved it from Friday to Tuessday evening. Runger explains why.
O’Brien County’s Annual Relay For Life is a fundraising effort, with proceeds going for cancer research and patient financial assistance.
