October Warmer, Wetter Than Normal

Sheldon, Iowa — October was warmer and wetter than normal in Sheldon, according to official National Weather Service records.

The average high temperature for October, 2021 was 65-degrees, with the warmest temperature for the month of 84 degrees on October 9th. October 2021 was much warmer than October 2020, where the average high was 54 degrees.

October 2021’s average low temperature was 41 degrees, with the coolest temperature for the month of 28-degrees recorded on October 18th, 30th, and 31st. This year’s average low of 41 was some 3-degrees warmer than October of last year, when the average low reached 38.

3.3-inches of precipitation fell on Sheldon last month, that’s 1.38 inches above the normal October precipitation level of 1.92 inches. Snowfall was .8 inches below normal with no snow falling in the month.
