Overflow Crowd Attends Christian School Centennial Celebration

Sheldon, Iowa — “Planted in Trust – Rooted in Faithfulness”, that was the theme of Sheldon Christian School during their Centennial school year.

An overflow crowd of parents, grandparents, and other supporters of the Sheldon Christian School gathered at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon Friday evening to celebrate the school’s 100th birthday.

The celebration began with the prelude by the Sheldon Christian School Band & Alumni Band, who played Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus, Fairest Lord Jesus, and Sing Praise To God Who Reigns Above.  Sheldon Christian School Principal, Mr. Pete Van Velzen welcomed the crowd, and offered the Opening Prayer.  The celebration continued with scripture readings, songs, and speakers, before the Closing Prayer was offered by former Principal Doug De Vries.

Sheldon Christian School was founded in 1917 as a private Christian school with the goal of offering a high-quality education with a Christian perspective on all of life. Throughout the school’s first 100 years, it has provided a God-centered education through solid curriculum, dedicated faculty, and strong parental involvement.

Friday night’s centennial observance was an opportunity for those gathered to celebrate, and give thanks for, the school’s successful completion of it’s mission during it’s first 100 years.

Following the Centennial Ceremony at First Christian Reformed Church, an Open House at the school capped off the Centennial Celebration evening.
