Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Is December 7th

Statewide Iowa — It’s been 81 years since thousands of Americans died in the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese military — the attack that brought the United States into World War II.

On December 6th, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds ordered that all flags in the state of Iowa be flown at half-staff on December 7th. The time frame will be from sunrise until sunset. This means that all flags on public buildings, grounds, and facilities will be at half-staff. Reynolds also encourages individuals, schools, businesses, and counties to also fly flags at half-staff.

Governor Reynolds says, “May we always honor and remember the lives lost and those injured on that harrowing day, and forever share our gratitude for their service and our freedoms.”

This order is in accordance with the proclamation that came from President Joe Biden.
