Premier Buys Two More Telecommunications Companies

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center-based telecommunications company has purchased two other companies east of our area.

It was announced this week that Sioux Center-based Premier Communications is acquiring Great Lakes Communication Corporation, doing business as IGL Teleconnect. The acquisition includes IGL’s telephone and internet business.

IGL Teleconnect was founded 11 years ago with the goal of providing high-quality telecommunications services to rural northwest Iowa. In a statement, Josh Nelson, CEO of Great Lakes Communication Corp., says “In working with Premier on this transaction, we have found that Premier shares that same desire and our current customers can count on continued high levels of service and investment in the area.”

Ryan Boone, CEO of Premier Communications, says “Premier is currently making a multi-million-dollar investment in Spirit Lake and plans to continue this fiber expansion further south to Milford, so this acquisition made perfect sense in light of IGL’s current network and customer base.” Boone added “I can’t emphasize enough how excited Premier is to continue IGL’s community based approach to serving the lakes region; we are committed to serving this area with the same cutting-edge technology and great customer service that Premier is known for throughout northwest Iowa.”

The closing is subject to regulatory approvals, expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Premier Communications is also acquiring Royal Telephone Company, including its telephone, cable television and internet business. That transaction is also subject to regulatory approval.
