Orange City, Iowa — Work on the new portion of the Orange City Fire Station continues, and a grand opening meal with a ribbon cutting has been scheduled.
Orange City Fire Chief Denny Vander Wel gives us a construction progress update.
Vander Wel says they have scheduled the open house meal during Fire Prevention Week in October.
The work is estimated to cost $2.7 million. Vander Wel says the expansion was needed due to safety and overcrowding issues. A March, 2016 bond issue passed by almost 84 percent.
