Road to Iowa Governor 2026: Eddie Andrews Outlines Priorities

Sioux Center, Iowa — Republican gubernatorial candidate and state representative Eddie Andrews says restoring Iowa’s standing in education, reforming property taxes, and strengthening mental health care are central to his campaign.

Andrews said his platform is built around four primary priorities: education, property taxes, property rights, and mental health.

Property taxes are another issue Andrews says he hears repeatedly from voters across the state, particularly from Iowans on fixed incomes.

Andrews said concerns over property taxes are often tied to stories of long-time homeowners struggling to remain in their homes.

Property rights are also a key part of Andrews’ campaign. He points to his early and vocal opposition to the use of eminent domain for private development, saying protecting landowners would be a priority from the start of his administration.

Mental health policy is a deeply personal issue for Andrews, who says his advocacy began years before his run for governor. He cites legislation expanding services for individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities, particularly adults who often lack access to care.

Asked what sets him apart from other candidates in the race, Andrews pointed to his legislative record and his ability to win in a politically competitive district.

Andrews added that colleagues often cite his work ethic and productivity in the legislature, saying he believes his experience positions him to lead Iowa effectively.

Andrews is one of several Republicans seeking the governor’s office in 2026.
