Rock Rapids, Iowa — The annual observance of another area festival has fallen victim to the COVID-19 situation.
Members of the Rock Rapids Heritage Days Committee say, “It is with much disappointment that the Heritage Days committee has decided to cancel our celebration scheduled for June 25-28, 2020 due to the COVID-19 concerns.”
The June festival normally features a medallion hunt, a waffle breakfast, a musical revue by the River Valley Players, a road race, a parade, inflatables, lunch in the park, an all-school reunion, a street dance, a community worship service, auto racing, figure-8 races, a soapbox derby, golf, softball, and much more; and draws people from a wide area, especially Rock Rapids natives. But it sounds like the festival will have to wait until next year. Hopefully by then, the COVID-19 pandemic will be a memory.
