Rock Rapids, Iowa — There were a few tense moments on Friday night at Sanford Rock Rapids Hospital. A fire alarm activated in the 10 p.m. hour.
According to Rock Rapids Fire Chief Ed Reck, fire crews were paged about 10:35 p.m. He says when they got there, they were able to determine the location of the alarm and traced it to an overheated motor on an air compressor.
Sanford Rock Rapids administrator Tammy Loosbrock says it could have been worse. She says hospital staff didn’t need to move any patients. She says Sanford Rock Rapids maintenance man Terry Jones was there and got the problem taken care of promptly.
No injuries were reported and damage was limited to the motor.
Reck says fire crews headed back to the fire station by 10:50 p.m.
