Rock Rapids Summer Plans Up In The Air

Rock Rapids, Iowa — Some of the northwest Iowa summer festivals are postponed, some are canceled, and some are still up in the air in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The same goes for other activities.

One northwest Iowa community says their decisions have not been made yet. Angie Jager serves as both the Rock Rapids Chamber Director and the Rock Rapids Recreation Director.

(as said:) “We’re waiting to make a decision on Heritage Days. Again, we have everything ready to go as far as we can and we’re just kind of at a standstill for some decisions to be made. If a decision is made to go on then we will start contacting volunteers to get things lined up because that stuff will be quickly approaching. But as of right now Little League season is on hold, and again a decision has not been made on Heritage Days.”

Jager says as far as Little League baseball, softball, and tee-ball, they are waiting for the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union to make a firm decision about summer sports before they make their decision about what to do about Little League.

The new bike ride through Iowa — Iowa’s Ride — was to conclude in Rock Rapids in July, but that ride has been canceled for this year due to COVID-19. No dates have been set yet for next year’s ride.
