Rock Valley, Iowa — Actions have consequences. That was the message driven home by a mock accident scene at Rock Valley this week.
Darin Vande Kamp is the director of the Rock Valley Ambulance Squad. He says the original intention of the timing of the mock accident was to have it a few days before prom at Rock Valley High School. Unfortunately, there was a blizzard on the day it was originally scheduled — April 18th. However, prom went on as scheduled and the mock accident had to be rescheduled for this past Wednesday, April 25th.
He gives us an idea of what happened at the scene.
A hearse was also part of the presentation to drive the point home that it could be someone’s final ride.
Vande Kamp tells us that the original idea for the mock accident came from an ambulance member who is a teacher at the Netherlands Reformed Christian School in Rock Valley.
Vande Kamp says they emphasized that actions, whether good or bad, have consequences. And bad choices such as impaired driving can change not only your life forever, but those of friends, families, and the greater community.
