Sanborn Classic Car Dealer Taking Cars To Sell At Barrett-Jackson Auction In Scottsdale

Sanborn, Iowa — A Sanborn specialty auto dealer is going to be spending some time in Arizona next month, but unlike many northwest Iowans who head south, He won’t be there so relax in the sun.

Craig Sampson of Sampson Corvettes near Sanborn is taking a few of his specialty cars to Scottsdale next month to sell them in one of the high-profile auctions held by Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions.

Sampson says he’s had good success selling cars at previous Barrett-Jackson auctions.

Sampson says the first year he took cars to a Barrett-Jackson auction he took six vehicles. One was what he called a “barn find”, a 1978 Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car, which he says was “still in the wrapper.”

He says three of those cars sold at Barrett-Jackson have brought the three highest prices in the world for the Indy Pace Cars.

He says he has four cars that have already been assigned lot numbers for the Scottsdale auction.

Sampson says there’s a lot of preparation involved in getting the cars ready to cross the auction block.

He says there’s also a lot of pressure on the owners whose cars are selling.

This January’s Barrett-Jackson classic car auction will be held in Scottsdale, Arizona January 11th through the 19th, with Sampson’s cars set to sell on Wednesday, January 15th.
