Sanford Now Offering 2023-2024 COVID-19 Vaccine

Sheldon, Iowa — Sanford Medical Centers are now administering the new monovalent COVID-19 vaccine labeled the 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine. This specific vaccine targets a new omicron variant of the sickness.

It replaced the most recent bivalent vaccine that came out last year in 2022. This new vaccine is expected to provide cross-protection this respiratory illness season. They also suggest people get the flu and pneumonia vaccines as usual during this time of year, as those illnesses are extremely common as the weather gets chillier and people spend more time indoors.

There are, as of now, a limited number of vaccines available. Patients should call their primary care provider’s clinic to learn about availability.
