Sheldon, Iowa — With the bad winter weather northwest Iowa has encountered, there have been many blood drives canceled. That means the Community Blood Bank has lost out on blood donations.
Ken Versteeg, Executive Director of the Community Blood Bank, tells KIWA that there is a severe blood shortage within the community. The Community Blood Bank gives over 550 units of blood each week to people in northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota and southeast South Dakota, which means with the canceled blood drives they aren’t able to replenish the supply they give out.
On Tuesday, January 17th, there will be a blood drive at Sanford Sheldon from 12:30 until 3:30 in the afternoon.
